Frances Mylet, MA
Professional Counselor Associate
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers
My name is Frances Mylet and I am a professional counselor associate. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest University and am currently being supervised by Dr. Len Kaufman.
In my approach to therapy, I work from a process oriented, relational framework which means I have curiosity about what is happening in the present moment of our sessions and in the therapeutic relationship. I believe that creating a secure relationship between therapist and patient can be a powerful place for healing and gaining greater knowledge of our patterns with others.
I draw from aspects of cognitive behavioral therapy and parts work to help cultivate compassionate awareness of our inner experiences.
I’m also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an approach that helps the brain process difficult experiences in a more adaptive way. It’s an option we might explore for supporting recovery from stressful or traumatic experiences when it feels like a good fit.
I am interested in how you create meaning for yourself, the past experiences and relationships that have shaped who you are today, and the stories that you hold about yourself. Last but not least, I put emphasis on your strengths, inner wisdom, and self compassion, knowing that each of us is trying our best to adapt and survive through challenging environments and oppressive structures.
I work with adults and teens experiencing anxiety, depression, the impacts of trauma, and adjusting to life transitions and stressors.
A little bit about me- I was first inspired to pursue the field of counseling after volunteering for a crisis hotline. In my free time I love spending time in nature with my energetic little dog, trying to sharpen my baking skills, and going to see theatre and movies.
